Prophylaxis was started preoperatively and continued for 10 days. The standard fracture treatment consisted of operative stabilization, mostly by means of plates or external fixators. In the cloxacillin group two infections were observed as compared to 12 in the control group. This difference was significant. © Lippincott-Raven Publishers.
