On May 8, in New Orleans, La., Robert K. McLellan, MD, MPH, FACOEM, was installed as the new president of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). Dr McLellan was among eight physicians who took office during ACOEM’s 92nd annual membership meeting. The meeting was held in conjunction with the 2007 American Occupational Health Conference.
Dr McLellan is Associate Professor of Medicine and Community and Family Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School, Chief of the Section of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and Medical Director for Employee Health and Safety at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He received both his MD and MPH from Yale University School of Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Preventive Medicine, certified in occupational medicine. Dr McLellan is also certified by the American Board of Family Practice and the Medical Review Officer Certification Council.
Other officers installed for one-year terms were President-elect, Robert R. Orford, MD, CM, MS, MPH, FACOEM, and Vice President, Pamela A. Hymel, MD, MPH, FACOEM.
Dr Orford is Chair, Division of Preventive, Occupational Medicine, and Aerospace Medicine, at Mayo Clinic Arizona in Scottsdale. He is an Assistant Professor at Mayo Medical School and Associate Professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He received his MD and CM from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, his MS from the University of Minnesota, and his MPH from the University of Washington.
Dr Hymel is Global Medical Director of Cisco Systems in San Jose, Calif. She holds the position of Clinical Faculty at the University of California, Irvine. She received her MD from Louisiana State University, New Orleans, La., and her MPH from Tulane University, New Orleans.
Installed as directors for three-year terms (2007–2010) were Karl Auerbach, MD, MS, MBA, FACOEM; Beth Baker, MD, MPH, FACOEM; Gary N. Greenberg, MD, MPH, FACOEM; and T. Warner Hudson III, MD, FACOEM. Also elected to a one-year term was Joseph A. Fortuna, MD, MACOEM, who will fulfill the last year of Dr. Pamela Hymel’s directorship (2005–2008).
Dr Auerbach is Assistant Professor of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y. He received his MD from the University of Rochester.
Dr Baker is Residency Director for the HealthPartners Occupational Medicine Residency Program at Regions Hospital/Health Partners in St. Paul, Minn. She received her MD from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis.
Dr Greenberg is Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Public Health, Public Health Leadership Program, in Chapel Hill, N.C., and Assistant Adjunct Professor, Duke University Medical Center, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, in Durham, N.C. He received his MD from Northwestern University School of Medicine, Chicago, Ill.
Dr Hudson is Director of Health, Safety and Environment for DST Output in El Dorado Hills, Calif. He received his MD from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C.
Dr Fortuna is Medical Director, Power Train and AHG Divisions, Delphi Corporation, in Troy, Mich. He received his MD from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Other members of the ACOEM Board of Directors include Natalie P. Hartenbaum, MD, MPH, FACOEM, who is fulfilling the second year of her two-year term as the Secretary/Treasurer, and Tee. L. Guidotti, MD, MPH, FACOEM, who remains on the Board as the Immediate Past President.

Officers of the ACOEM House of Delegates for 2007–2008 were recognized at the ACOEM membership meeting held on May 8 during the American Occupational Health Conference. Installed at the 80th Session of the House on May 4, were Speaker, Marilyn V. Howarth, MD, FACOEM, who as Speaker, also serves on the ACOEM Board of Directors; Speaker-elect, James A. Tacci, MD, JD, MPH, FACOEM; and Recorder William G. Buchta, MD, MPH, MS, FACOEM.
Dr Howarth is Director of Occupational and Environmental Consultation Services at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She is Medical Director of WorkWell and the Medical Director of Penn Executive Health. Dr Howarth is Clinical Assistant Professor of Occupational and Emergency Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She received her MD from UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, N.J.
Dr Tacci is Manager of Medical Services for Xerox Corporation in Rochester, N.Y., and an Assistant Professor and Residency Program Director at the University of Rochester’s Department of Community and Preventive Medicine. He received his MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, N.Y.
Dr Buchta is Medical Director for Employee Health, Division of Preventive and Occupational Medicine, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He received his MD from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison.

Fellow is the highest class of membership within the College. It recognizes physicians who have been engaged in the full-time practice of occupational and environmental medicine and who have exhibited significant leadership in ACOEM – at both the component society and national level. Fellows have also demonstrated their expertise within the specialty by achieving certification in occupational medicine or in another medical specialty by a Board acceptable to the ACOEM Board of Directors. Fellows are eligible to serve as officers and directors of the College.
