Clinical significance: Improving population health requires different employer behaviors, more education about links between the workplace environment, employee wellbeing, and profitability; greater investor pressure prioritizing health; selecting executives who value health; and systematic measurement of health outcomes. Government action to ensure no competitive disadvantage from pursuing employee health may be necessary.
