The Editor-in-Chief takes overall responsibility of the development and management of the Journal of Acute Disease. In addition to carrying out the administrative responsibilities of the journal, the Editor-in-Chief has the final say in decisions regarding journal content, resolution of complaints or appeals, and makes the final decision on whether to accept the reviewed manuscripts. The Editor-in-Chief supervises the editorial activities or processes, sets the direction and goals for future development, and works with other executives and senior management to determine the overarching vision that encompasses the publication. In addition to establishing a uniform style within the publication and ensuring content consistency, the Editor-in-Chief upholds editorial quality to make sure that the quality of the publication reaches the standards set by the senior management. Overall speaking, the Editor-in-Chief promotes improvement in the work of the publication as a whole.

The editorial director generally coordinates with the different departments to share the data and work efficiently. The editorial director usually also takes part in the recruitment procedures by interviewing the candidates and deciding their eligibility for a particular job. The Editorial Director also ensures that the work done is original and within the rules, regulations, and other copyright laws.

The Scientific Editors work closely and dynamically with the Executive Editor-in-Chief, the Managing Editor, and other team members to develop the Journal. The editors negotiate revisions with authors to ensure that manuscripts that are accepted for publication meet with the standards of medical and scientific reporting.
