Asian traits that differ from those of the West result in a higher incidence of stroke. Studies of the epidemiology of stroke across Asia have revealed different levels of mortality, incidence, prevalence, and illness burden. In Asia, hypertension is the most prevalent risk factor. In addition to ethnicity, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as well as blood pressure variability, are positively connected with stroke incidence. In Asia, treating hypertension by increasing awareness and treatment adherence has become the main goal. Copyright © 2023 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. All rights reserved.
