GRIEF RESOURCES

To help address complex trauma, HPNA, Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF), Social Work Hospice & Palliative Care Network, APC, and ONS have teamed up to bring you complementary resources on grief education. Dealing With GRIEF: A Series of 5 Short, Powerful Videos aims to provide timely and practical information to help you care for the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs of your patients and their families. Each video is 2 to 5 minutes in length and includes a downloadable resource guide. The videos are complementary and can be accessed at YouTube.com/HPNAInformation. This project was made possible through a grant from the American Nurses Foundation.

HPNA NURSING RESOURCE GUIDES

HPNA’s Nursing Resource Guides (NRGs) are for clinicians looking for a quick reference on a variety of symptoms and topics. The NRGs give management strategies for symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, dyspnea, seizures, nausea and vomiting, end-of-life, delirium, and more. The guides offer an overview of the symptom, common causes, and nonpharmacological and pharmacological interventional strategies.

The NRGs are a member benefit—only HPNA members can access the full NRG Library. Members must be logged into their HPNA account to gain access. View the guides at AdvancingExpertCare.org/NRG.

CALL FOR 2023 EXAMINATION DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE and SITUATIONAL JUDGMENT EXERCISE POSITIONS

If you are HPCC certified and interested in serving your profession, you may want to consider applying for a position on one of the HPCC committees. Great care is taken to select candidates from both hospice and palliative care backgrounds, representing various geographic areas of the country, and with clinical knowledge, management skills, and academic experience. It is crucial that enough qualified individuals apply to ensure the ongoing leadership for the certification process and accomplishment of the goals of the organization. Completed application packets are due to the National Office by July 1, 2022. Visit AdvancingExpertCare.org/Exam-Development to obtain an application.

RETEST ASSURED

Taking an examination is stressful, and although most of our candidates pass on the first try, some do not. To take a little bit of stress away, we have implemented the reTEST Assured program, which offers any candidate who does not pass the opportunity to retake the examination within the next 3 test windows for $125. The reTEST Assured program is not retroactive and only candidates testing in 2022 and onward are eligible.

You must submit a paper application for the reTEST Assured program. The application can be found in the candidate handbook of the examination you are taking. Visit AdvancingExpertCare.org/Certification and select the credential of the examination you plan to retake.

REMOTE PROCTORING (LIVE REMOTE PROCTORING) COMING SOON!

Coming Soon! Live Remote Proctoring will be an additional way to take your HPCC certification examination. Instead of physically visiting a testing center, candidates will be able to launch their examination online, in a secure location of their choice (home, work, etc). The examination is proctored remotely in real time. Examinations delivered by Live Remote Proctoring are the same as those delivered at the test center and have the same level of examination security. Stay tuned for more details!
