It is a great pleasure to announce that the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS) Physician Leading Mentors have awarded Professor Doctor Zenab Elgothamy, Ex. Chairman of Dermatology at Ain Shams University, the prestigious WDS International Pioneer Award for Distinguished Women in Dermatology. The award is given once every 4 years at the World Congress of Dermatology. Dr Elgothamy was selected this year for her pioneering work, serving as a role model for women, and for founding the Egyptian Women’s Dermatologic Society in 1991 in Cairo, Egypt, and the Journal of Egyptian Women’s Dermatologic Society, both online and printed issues in 2004. Dr Kathleen J. Hectorne, President of WDS, and Dr Rashmi Sarkar, Chair, International Affairs Committee, WDS (Fig. 1) presented the award (Fig. 2) to Professor Elgothamy on 8 June 2015 at the WDS International Leadership Forum at the 23rd World Congress of Dermatology in Vancouver, Canada, at a reception that was attended by many leading Dermatologists worldwide (Fig. 3).
