Lamellar or Surface Ablation?

I thank Dr. Edmison for replying to my editorial. Controversy is good, and of course there will be different opinions about an editor's view. However, the reference list of this reply (most are non-peer-reviewed articles, personal communications, or presentations) shows that the “new surface ablation” option is not yet established. The only peer-reviewed reference is from Stevens and coauthors. That “surface is safer” has to be proved and this was part of the intention of the editorial. I hope interested surgeons and researchers who have an open mind about surface and lamellar approaches will be stimulated to provide the truth.
