World Congress of Gastroenterology (WCOG) 2022 Dubai

The WCOG in Dubai last December was an astounding success! Doctors and professors from all over the world joined together to learn, share experiences, and celebrate the field of gastroenterology. This state-of-the-art congress featured incredible speakers and symposiums that helped bring in-person meetings back to life! WCOG 2022 gave the opportunity of sharing research and create a space to develop global conversations.

Some of the highlights from this meeting were the Live Endoscopy and Women in GI Sessions. The Live Endoscopy Session put medical techniques and skills on display, all while giving others the chance to learn and observe. Our Women in GI Session gave some of the highly recognized women of gastroenterology the chance to share their stories, wisdom, and experiences. This World Congress was a marvelous experience for all those who attended. Surely, everyone left the meeting feeling inspired and proud of the work that they do.

We hope to replicate the success of this year’s World Congress in Seoul later this year! WCOG 2023 will be held in Seoul, Korea, November 16–18. We wish that you all join us again!

Nominations Open for the 2023–2025 Term

As we enter the New Year, it is also time for new nominations inside of WGO Committees. At this time, the WGO Nominations Committee is seeking nominations for positions within the WGO for the 2023–2025 term of service and invites you to nominate individuals for consideration. Serving as an officer or on a committee offers a great opportunity to impact the future of WGO in a meaningful way.

Nominations for WGO committees will open in March 2023. Stay tuned to WGO news this year as more details regarding deadlines and qualifications are soon to be released. To learn more about WGO’s Committees and Interest Groups, and the latest information on nominations, follow these links:

It is anticipated that we will receive many more proposed names than there are positions to be filled. While an individual’s experience and expertise are of primary importance, the selection of the final list of nominations also takes into account broad geographic and gender representation as well as other demographic factors within WGO’s governance structure. Where applicable, previous membership in WGO committees, interest groups, task forces, projects, and initiatives will also be considered in order to achieve diverse and balanced representation in each committee.

Interested in nominating yourself or a colleague? Applications must be received by your WGO member society/representative. Please contact your member society to express interest.
