JBJS Essential Surgical Techniques Awards

JBJS Essential Surgical Techniques (JBJS EST) and The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS) are pleased to announce two annual awards in the amount of $500 USD each. One award will be for the best Subspecialty Procedure (SP) video article, and the other will be for the best Key Procedures (KP) video article published each calendar year.

How to Enter

Authors are strongly encouraged to submit a completed storyboard template for both article types prior to filming. A Title and Abstract template will also be required for submission. Corresponding authors will be asked during the submission process whether they wish their article or video to be considered for the award.

Articles must be submitted via the JBJS EST Editorial Manager submission site and adhere to the requirements outlined in the Instructions for Authors.

What Makes a Good Surgical Technique Article?

Key criteria for a high-quality JBJS EST article include, but are not limited to:

  • An Abstract that provides a clearly written and insightful overview of the described procedure
  • A comprehensive storyboard with a detailed description of the planned videos
  • High-resolution, instructive video clips
  • Clinical relevance of technique or procedure

Questions regarding the contest and submission process can be sent to editorial@surgicaltechniques.org.
