How to Enter
Authors are strongly encouraged to submit a completed storyboard template for both article types prior to filming. A Title and Abstract template will also be required for submission. Corresponding authors will be asked during the submission process whether they wish their article or video to be considered for the award.
Articles must be submitted via the JBJS EST Editorial Manager submission site and adhere to the requirements outlined in the Instructions for Authors.
What Makes a Good Surgical Technique Article?
Key criteria for a high-quality JBJS EST article include, but are not limited to:
- An Abstract that provides a clearly written and insightful overview of the described procedure
- A comprehensive storyboard with a detailed description of the planned videos
- High-resolution, instructive video clips
- Clinical relevance of technique or procedure

Winner Selection
Winning authors will be notified by February each following year. Their achievement will be recognized online as well as during the JBJS reception at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
