The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. AAOS designates these enduring material activities for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. 

Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

In addition, the lead author (listed first) may claim 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ directly from the American Medical Association (AMA) for publishing an article in JAAOS. The AMA requires a copy of a page from the published article that shows the name of the author listed first, the name of the journal, and the date published.
