CE for Reviewers

The Journal of the Association of Nurse Practitioners offers continuing education credit for peer reviews. We know that reviewing a paper requires significant time and expertise, and we appreciate your commitment to making JAANP the premier journal in our field. Providing continuing education credit is a way of acknowledging your commitment and providing you with some tangible “return” for your hard work.

In order to earn the credits, you will need to respond to 4 short questions at the end of the online peer review form:

  • Are you interested in earning continuing education credit?
  • How long did it take to complete this review? (Select the applicable time frame.)
  • Performing this review has improved my knowledge and ability to assess the scientific literature in order to make informed decisions in my practice. (YES or NO)
  • Performing this review has improved my critical thinking and writing skills within my area of expertise. (YES or NO)

All questions must be answered to earn the credit.

The JAANP editorial team will evaluate your review and assign a score between 0 and 100 to reflect the quality of the review. A score of 70 or above is needed in order to earn CE credit. (Please note that this evaluation of your review is independent of the quality of the article. Even if you recommend against publishing the article, credit can be awarded if the quality of your review scores a 70 or above.)

If your score is less than 70, we will contact you to discuss what would be necessary to improve the score in the future.

Now might be a good time to update your reviewer profile at our JAANP Editorial Manager website.  We’ve added new content areas, so please review them and let us know what content areas you’d like to review papers in. Just log on the EM website at www.editorialmanager.com/jaanp/ and click on “update my information”. On that page click “select personal classifications” in the “Areas of Interest or Expertise” section.

We’re really excited to be able to provide you with this continuing education credit program for the work that you do for JAANP. I again thank you for your participation in the peer review process.
