In the article that appeared on page 54 of the January 2017 issue, there is an error in the following sentences: “Soon enough, the SARS pathogen was identified, and exposure to chickenswas found to be amajor risk factor. Dr. Margaret Chan, then the head of the Hong Kong Department of Health, made the decision to cull millions of chickens.” These 2 sentences refer to the avian flu H5N1, not the SARS virus.
