PHYSICIAN CAREER SATISFACTION ACROSS SPECIALTIES

[Leigh JP et al. Arch Intern Med 2002;162:1577]

The authors analyze data from the Community Tracking Study using a survey at 60 sites with an overall response rate of 65%. There were 12,474 participants who were asked to quantitate career satisfaction. The results for subspecialties of internal medicine are summarized in Table 13, which is limited to internal medicine and shows relatively high rating for infectious disease specialists in terms of the number “very satisfied” and the low number of “dissatisfied.”
