It is my duty and pleasure to report to you about the recent announcement of our impact factor (IF) for the year 2012.
We have made further progress and raised the IF by 18% to the value of 1.941.
As you may recall, the IF of 2012 is calculated by a summation of the articles published in the IJGC in 2010 and 2011, cited through 2012 and divided by the total number of articles published in those 2 years.
Our growth in the IF has grown during the past 3 years, and if it continues at the same pace, it may reach a record of 2.3 next year.
Although citations and IF do not reflect readership or the educational added value, they remain essential to the mission of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society and European Society of Gynaecological Oncology. Moreover, we believe that our role in the academic arena is of utmost importance.
It is our pleasure to congratulate and express our gratitude to the devoted team of senior editors, who practically carry the load of editorial responsibility and bring us to this success.
