“A Supervisor Asks” is an occasional feature of The Health Care Supervisor. The questions used in this department were asked by working supervisors within the context of a supervisory development program.
The responses to the question are not the answers of a single person. Neither are they simply textbook answers. Rather, the responses were developed from the suggestions offered by other members of the discussion group, that is, by peers of the supervisors who asked the questions. The group's discussion leader wrote the responses, but the ideas used were those of the group members.
“A Supervisor Asks” presents a unique approach to supervisory development: the real questions of working supervisors answered through the pooling of the knowledge and experience of other working supervisors.
The following questions ask the reader to consider how to deal with the issues of employee attendance presented by a chronic absentee and an employee who is habitually tardy.
