A Note from Obstetrics & Gynecology’s Editor-in-Chief, Nancy C. Chescheir, MD:

Dear Readers,

I received feedback provided by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as well as subscribers of Obstetrics & Gynecology (“the Green Journal”) regarding the cover photo that appeared on our July edition. It is the Journal’s custom to feature an image on the cover that is from one of the published articles appearing in the issue, which is what I did in this edition.

Thanks to feedback from ACOG and its valued members, I understand now that the selection of the photo for the July edition was insensitive and caused pain. This was unintentional. Featuring this photo on the cover without proper context was a mistake.

I apologize. I also recognize that mistakes of this nature do not occur in a vacuum and that they compel reflection and action. I will be working with the entire Green Journal staff and team to take time to reflect, to listen, to assess the Journal’s entire editorial process, and to implement meaningful change.
