In “Practice Bulletin No. 199: Use of Prophylactic Antibiotics in Labor and Delivery” from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists,1 there is an error on page e107. In Table 1, the footnote that reads, “Dose is based on the patient's actual body weight. If the patient's actual weight is more than 20% above ideal body weight (IBW), the dose can be determined as follows: dose=IBW+0.4 (actual weight − IBW)” is incorrect. The correct sentence is “Dose is based on the patient's actual body weight. If the patient's actual weight is more than 20% above ideal body weight (IBW), the dosing weight (DW) can be determined as follows: DW=IBW+0.4 (actual weight − IBW).”
