Departments: Letters to the Editor

Obstetrician–Gynecologist (retired), Honorary Staff, Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada

Editor's Note: Dr. Thomas adds the following disclosure:

I have a special interest and experience in treating patients without allogeneic blood transfusions. I have been an obstetrician–gynecologist for nearly 50 years, and one of Jehovah's Witnesses for more than 20 years. Until I retired from active medical practice recently, I treated many women without blood transfusion, including non-Witnesses who were concerned about receiving allogeneic blood transfusion. I continue to have an active interest in transfusion-avoidance strategies in obstetrics and gynecology.
