In an attempt to correlate placenta previa with fetal growth, the records of 89 patients with placenta previa were reviewed retrospectively. According to the criteria of fetal growth established by Gruenwald, fetal weights were plotted on a graph using 1 and 2 standard deviations from normal. In all but three instances, the weights of the infants were normal for gestational age. Thus, there was no evidence of fetal growth retardation in patients with placenta previa.
