Obstetrics & Gynecology: July 1970 - Volume 36 - Issue 1 - p 115-120 Free Abstract An analysis of 28 cases of complete uterine rupture during pregnancy is presented. Dehiscence of a cesarean section scar rarely leads to massive blood loss or to maternal or fetal mortality. Spontaneous and traumatic ruptures are rare but potentially lethal; the recognizable clinical situations associated with them are described. Half of such ruptures are considered preventable. Rapid diagnosis and therapy will prevent both maternal and fetal loss. © 1970 The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
