Philadelphia Obstetrics & Gynecology: July 1970 - Volume 36 - Issue 1 - p 32-36 Free Abstract Delayed postpartum hemorrhage is discussed and subdivided on the basis of the patient's need for transfusion. No predisposing factors were noted in this review of 54 such hemorrhages. A significant correlation between retained placental fragments and severe delayed postpartum bleeding was found. Uterine packing was particularly helpful in the severe episode. A review of the literature is included to aid in understanding the etiology and management of this condition. © 1970 The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
