Nashville. Tenn. Obstetrics & Gynecology: July 1970 - Volume 36 - Issue 1 - p 151-155 Free Abstract A 4-year retrospective study of 181 breech deliveries was analyzed. Prematurity was more than twice as frequent among breech as among vertex presentations. Unconnected mortality was nearly 5 times higher for breech than for vertex presentations. Corrected perinatal mortality was 28 times higher for premature than for term breeches. Corrected perinatal mortality for term breech deliveries was 1.71%. Vaginal delivery of term breeches resulted in traumatic injury to 3.8% of the infants. Perinatal mortality was lowest among infants delivered by cesarean section. © 1970 The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
