Obstetrics & Gynecology: September 1969 - Volume 34 - Issue 3 - p 378-386 Free Abstract The administration of meprobamate during one or more trimesters of pregnancy to nearly 800 women because of some anxiety-evoked symptom enabled comparison of pregnancy outcome with that of more than 5000 other gravidas from the same private practice. No deleterious effect upon the pregnancy or fetus was observed in the meprobamate-treated group; the ratios to normal births of congenital abnormality, prematurity, stillbirth, and abortion were unaffected by the meprobamate. © 1969 The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
