MD, FACOGAuthor Information From the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Mich Obstetrics & Gynecology: August 1969 - Volume 34 - Issue 2 - p 174-181 Free Abstract Graphic recording of the labor pattern from the time of its onset is advocated as a standard procedure. This analysis of 1000 such labor graphs, including 500 primigravidas and 500 multigravidas, supports the viewpoint that they are precise guides for the management of abnormal labors. Ongoing observation of a parturient's graph provides an early warning of a disturbed pattern, enabling aggressive therapy and preventing the maternal exhaustion, as well as the fetal disasters, of over-long labors. © 1969 The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
