Using this method, it was possible in repeated canine experiments to catheterize the fetal carotid artery, jugular vein, umbilical vessels, femoral vein, and trachea. Bilateral fetal nephrectomy was performed successfully on 20 dogs, with subsequent delivery of live young by 60% of them. © 1969 The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
