Letter to the Editor
The Epidemy of Cancel Culture
I am writing in response to the article by Sandra Scott Simons, MD, entitled, “Four Social Media Terms Learned the Hard Way.” (EMN. 2020;42:22; https://bit.ly/36nHFqA.)
I found the examples used in each section poorly chosen and the explanation of each poorly executed. The Facebook group EMDocs, for example, is not an inclusive group but the epidemy of cancel culture, given the hundreds of emergency physicians who have been removed without notice and for unknown reasons.
For a piece about unacceptable social media behaviors, Dr. Simons seems to have missed one: researched it (v.): the act of reading some material online and then promoting oneself as an expert.
