Editor:

I have read your publication for years and always look forward to receiving it. I particularly enjoy Dr. Edwin Leap's columns. He is honest, direct, and on target almost without fail. His recent column titled, “D/C: A Little More of the God's Honest Truth” was exactly right. (EMN 2019;41[3]:21; http://bit.ly/2TgtHwl.) Over the past 10 or so years, there has been an outright assault upon the English language. God forbid we use harsh words that may offend.

As someone who has practiced 29 years, I greatly appreciate a physician who will tell it like it is. While there is a fine line between the truth and cruelty, our patients deserve the best care and advice we can provide even if this may offend. Keep on writing, Dr. Leap. I look forward to your next column.
