Letter to the Editor
I am an emergency physician who finished residency in 1999. I've always looked forward to and enjoyed Dr. Edwin Leap's articles in your publication. His recent article, “D/C: A Little More of the God's Honest Truth” is no exception. (EMN 2019;41:21; http://bit.ly/2TgtHwl.)
His articles often hit the nail right on the head with regard to some of the issues we EPs face on a daily basis, and he does so in a lighthearted and fun way. I think this recent article was actually one of his best. I know that some people took offense to this article, but it is my belief that they are likely in the vocal minority. I have seen some of the Twitter comments about this article and some other comments on social media by the same people who have criticized Dr. Leap. They are a vocal few who are attempting to affect the career of someone who wrote something they don't approve of.
I hope EMN knows that Dr. Leap has a lot of support in the EM community. Most of us who have been doing this job for a long time can relate to everything he said in this article, and wanted to say it to a patient at some time or another. I look forward to continuing to read Dr. Leap's articles in the future.
