The Pathway Medical Guidelines app on iOS (https://apple.co/2ENXVlk) is a quick reference guide for evidence-based recommendations. It features more than 300 disease entities and 5000 topics with evidence-based recommendations, and each recommendation is summarized succinctly along with a strength-of-evidence code, source citation, and link.

Diseases covered include acute ischemic stroke, Bell's palsy, and hypertension. Each disease has an organized list of subsections and guideline titles to make searching easy. Some diseases have multiple competing evidence-based guidelines, and these are annotated by source for easy reference.

Topics you may find clinically useful are the guideline for urinalysis and culture for febrile children 2 months to 2 years old or the section on the choice of initial antihypertensives for patients with different comorbidities presenting with untreated hypertension.

Many valuable topics are covered, many more than the typical EP would want and expect, especially for an app that costs $79 for the full version. Take advantage of the seven-day free trial to test the app before deciding on whether to add it to your clinical tool chest. ED leaders may find this app useful in helping them create their own guidelines for their departments and in their clinical quality meetings.
