Time to End the Recert Exam

doi: 10.1097/01.EEM.0000490529.14635.e8

I absolutely loved and totally agree with the article, “Isn't It Time to Abandon the Recertification Exam?” by Drs. Jordana Haber and Alberto Hazan. (EMN 2016;38[6]:7; http://emn.online/MindfulJune16.)

I'm interested in how to go about bringing all of us together to show the boards that we are done with this! We finished medical school, residency, and fellowships, and somehow we have lost control. My husband is an attorney, and is astounded that anyone can tell us we have to recertify. Could you imagine lawyers retaking the bar exam every 10 years? How did anesthesia go about this?

All of my emergency medicine colleagues are exhausted with the boards and ready to put an end to this outdated, unfair, and overly expensive process. Is there a way to start a petition that we can all sign and send to the boards?

    Let's get this thing done.
