The Imperatives of Administration
I've worked at three hospitals in my career and ultimately fired all of them for precisely the same reason Dr. Brad Cotton's group fired his. (“‘We Fired Our Hospital,’” EMN 2016;38:1; http://emn.online/FiredJune2016.) If we did what the administrative micromanagers wanted us to 100 percent, we'd leave a trail of dead people 20 yards wide behind us. And because we adhered to protocol, those deaths would most likely be labeled “complications.” But woe to the doc who doesn't adhere to the imperatives of Administration, as ill-conceived as most of them are.
