Dr. Thomas Lareau stated in his letter that “religion of whatever variety and science are like oil and water,” and that “belief in imaginary beings of any kind should not encumber or influence the objective practice of medicine.” (EMN 2009;31:23.)
In response I would like to present a scientific challenge to Dr. Lareau. If God does not exist, prove it. If you cannot prove God does not exist, then you should show a little respect for the majority of people in this country who do profess a belief in God. This would help and comfort your patients.
