Does screening for trichomonas in pregnancy improve outcomes?

CASE A 23-year-old woman presents to your office for her first prenatal visit at 15 weeks 2 days gestational age by last menstrual period. She reports that a friend of hers was recently treated for trichomonas during pregnancy. She asks if she should be screened for trichomonas.
