In Brief:
The actions taken by 193 individuals who failed a telephone-based hearing screen, Telscreen, were investigated. Thirty-six percent of individuals sought professional help for hearing impairment after using the Telscreen service. Results of a logistic regression analysis indicated that individuals who had considered hearing aids before calling Telscreen and/or who recalled their Telscreen result were significantly more likely to seek professional help for their hearing impairment. Of the 44 participants who sought help for their hearing impairment, 19 had hearing aid fitting recommended to them. Eight of these participants had aid/s fitted, and of these, six reported a successful outcome.
