About the Society

American Contact Dermatitis Society (ACDS) was founded in 1989 and has grown from a small, dedicated group of dermatologists focused on contact dermatitis to over 2,400 health care professionals in the field of allergic contact dermatitis and related inflammatory skin diseases.

ACDS Vision Statement

The American Contact Dermatitis Society is committed to advancing the care and understanding of dermatitis and allergy.

ACDS Mission Statement

The mission of the American Contact Dermatitis Society (ACDS) is to be the premier organization cultivating advancements in the diagnosis and care of dermatitis through the promotion of education, research, and advocacy. Our society is dedicated to understanding, and investigating the interplay among, contact, occupational, atopic, photo, drug and other forms of dermatitis.

ACDS Dermatitis Journal

The Dermatitis journal is the official Journal of the ACDS and is published six times per year. Dermatitis focuses on contact, atopic, occupational, and drug dermatitis, and welcomes manuscript submissions in these fields, with emphasis on reviews, studies, reports, and letters.

Annual sections include Contact Allergen of the Year and Contact Allergen Alternatives, for which papers are chosen or invited by the respective section editor. Other sections unique to the journal are Pearls & Zebras, Product Allergen Watch, and news, features, or meeting abstracts from participating organizations.

ACDS Contact Allergen Management Program (CAMP)

The American Contact Dermatitis Society is committed to advancing the care and understanding of dermatitis and allergy. As part of this commitment, ACDS created the Contact Allergen Management Program (CAMP), a web-based resource designed to help patients manage allergic contact dermatitis and find personal care products that are safe for them to use.
