Summary and Conclusions Summary and ConclusionsA new method for colonoscopy with a suction and lavage endoscope is described. Visualization is obtained with complete clarity. Difficulties encountered because of improper and incomplete preparation of the colon can be overcome by utilizing intermittent suction and lavage of the colon. At no time is introduction of additional instruments necessary, and thus the risk of contamination is lessened. It is hoped and anticipated that, by using the instrument described, contamination and the present rate of morbidity will be reduced to an inconsequential minimum.
