Current Opinion in Lipidology was launched in 1990. It is part of a successful series of review journals whose unique format is designed to provide a systematic and critical assessment of the literature as presented in the many primary journals. The field of lipidology is divided into six sections that are reviewed once a year. Each section is assigned a Section Editor, a leading authority in the area, who identifies the most important topics at that time. Here we are pleased to introduce the Section Editor for this issue.

Jeffrey Cohn did his PhD with Dr Paul Nestel at the Baker Medical Research Institute in Melbourne, and completed his postdoctoral training with Dr Ernst Schaefer at the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University in Boston. He then became a senior scientist at the Clinical Research Institute of Montreal, working with Dr Jean Davignon in the Hyperlipidemia and Atherosclerosis Research Group. For twelve years, Dr Cohn was Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Montreal and Adjunct Professor of Nutrition at McGill University. Dr Cohn has been involved in both scientific and clinical research pertaining to aspects of lipid and lipoprotein metabolism, particularly the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRL) in the fed and fasted state, the plasma kinetics of TRL apolipoproteins, and the quantification of triglyceride-rich remnant lipoproteins. Dr Cohn has recently returned to Australia, and is now leader of the Nutrition and Metabolism Group at the Heart Research Institute in Sydney. He has published over 90 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and is on the Editorial Board of Atherosclerosis, Clinical Biochemistry, and the Journal of Lipid Research.
