Skin and soft tissue infections: PDF Only

Over the last year the world literature has been dominated by papers relating to two factors: 1) the development and launch of new orally active antifungal agents that has resulted in a number of clinical trials of these drugs, and 2) the enormous impact of immunosuppression by human immunodeficiency virus on the incidence and presentation of infections of skin and soft tissues. The two main drugs that have dominated the antifungal literature are itraconazole, which has proven very effective in both superficial and deep fungal infections, and terbinafine, which has been used mainly in the treatment of superficial fungal infections.
