Geriatric anesthesiology

Abstract

The elderly represent the most rapidly growing segment of our population. A review of the recent literature yields information important in the anesthetic care of this group of patients. In particular, a better understanding of the nature of morbidity and mortality following anesthetic care in elderly patients, risks relative to anesthetic technique, thermoregulation differences in this group, and pharmacology of newer anesthetic agents have been reviewed.
