It plays an integral role in the detection and management of breast disease, using a multimodality approach, including x-ray, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, and nuclear medicine techniques. Breast imaging also encompasses image-guided procedures, performed both for the diagnosis and definitive management of breast abnormalities.
