The cornea shows a regular structure and its elements have well-proportioned dimensions. In this study, we will describe the collagen distribution in the cornea on the basis of data obtained by the examination of flat sections (fig. 1) and of transversal sections. We used various microscopical techniques and observed human as well as porcine corneas. During fixation the tension of the corneas was maintained constant by external pressure.
