This spring has been a period of intense efforts for our Journal as it transitions to a contract with a major publisher like Wolters Kluwer. Since our successful joint meeting of CSAM-ISAM in Montreal in October, 2016, CSAM agreed to negotiate a sponsoring contract with Wolters-Kluwer to meet the needs of its growing membership. Details were discussed at several meetings of the CSAM Board and I am indebted to the group for their continuous support. We are eagerly anticipating to be able to use Wolters Kluwer’s submission platform, which should streamline the submission process for author, reviewers and editorial responsibilities. I am told that we should anticipate a one year transition resulting in increased visibility and credibility for our Journal. We continue to firmly believe in the need for a voice for Canadian investigators and clinicians reporting on the unique aspects of our national experience across the world. The experience of our health care and social services including the management of addiction and mental health problems is being followed with great interest. This experience cannot be adequately reported by solely relying on publications with broader mandates and competing priorities. To represent our constituencies, we have undertaken to review the membership of our Editorial Board and seek a renewed commitment. We thank members who agreed to serve another three year term, we welcome our new members representing major academic centers and we gratefully acknowledge the contributions of those who are leaving us.
