In this review, we summarize the current knowledge in the nonalcoholic steatohepatitis field with potential value for clinicians focusing on the implications of the overlap between type 2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, the available diagnostic tools for risk stratification, management pathways, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis pharmacotherapy, including antidiabetic and cardiovascular drugs that may be beneficial or detrimental to their patients.

Current evidence suggests that COVID-19 pathogenesis majorly involves microvascular injury induced by hypercytokinemia, namely interleukin 6 (IL-6). We recount the suggested inflammatory pathway for COVID-19 and its effects on various organ systems, including respiratory, cardiac, hematologic, reproductive, and nervous organ systems.
