The function of the “Author on Call” blog is to allow our readers and authors to interact with each other in a unique way. A few select authors will be chosen to share on the blog aspects of their papers that were especially meaningful to them personally or points that may not have made it into their published report. Readers will then have the opportunity to provide comments and questions, to which the authors will respond.
At times, as seen in our first entry, we will also post separate entries to the blog on various special topics that we feel would be informational or that we welcome your feedback on.

"Although it is important to implement evidence-based programs for cancer survivors and their caregivers in community settings, many barriers exist. The article by Dockham and colleagues illustrates how researchers and clinicians collaborated to successfully implement the FOCUS Program in a Cancer Support Community affiliate. They describe the translational model used, program modifications made, and challenges faced. Through their collaboration, the FOCUS Program was successfully implemented by agency social workers with high fidelity. Survivors and caregivers who participated in the program reported significant improvement in multiple outcomes and high program satisfaction. This article provides an important blueprint for oncology clinicians who want to implement evidenced-based programs in their settings."
— Dr. Laurel Northouse on the paper "Implementation of a Psychoeducational Program for Cancer Survivors and Family Caregivers at a Cancer Support Community Affiliate: A Pilot Effectiveness Study," published in CANCER NURSING Volume 39, Issue 3. This paper was published as Express Review and was featured on the cover and in the "Editor's Picks" for this issue.
