It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved friend, colleague, mentor, and past president of the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP), Professor Praveen Mathur.
Praveen passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018, in California while vacationing with his family.
Praveen was a deeply compassionate physician whose dedication to the care of his patients drove him to become a true pioneer in the field of Interventional Pulmonology. He was a gifted teacher and mentor to countless pulmonologists and interventional pulmonologists around the globe and one of the founders of the AABIP. He was a tireless and selfless educator and passionate academic activist. In fact, just a few days ago at the American Thoracic Society meeting in San Diego, he was busy in educational activities, teaching the younger generations of Interventional Pulmonologists from around the world.
We will profoundly miss Praveen and his unwavering guidance and support for the AABIP. As a small token of our gratitude, we plan to dedicate a lecture, The Praveen Mathur Memorial Lecture, at AABIP’s Inaugural Conference in August, where he was scheduled to give a Plenary Session lecture.
Please remember Praveen and his family in your prayers.
