Announcement of Special Issue: The Behavioural Pharmacology of the Basal Ganglia In Memory of Lex Cools

doi: 10.1097/FBP.0000000000000022

It was with great sadness that the behavioural pharmacology community learned of the untimely death in September 2013 of Alexander (Lex) Cools. Lex was a founder member of the Editorial Board of Behavioural Pharmacology, a founding father of the European Behavioural Pharmacology Society, and a good friend and inspiration to many behavioural pharmacologists, across Europe and more widely.

In recognition of his substantial contribution to the field, the Editors have decided to devote a Special Issue of Behavioural Pharmacology to a topic that Lex held dear, the Behavioural Pharmacology of the Basal Ganglia. We therefore invite behavioural pharmacologists working in this areas to submit reports of original, unpublished empirical studies, for inclusion in this Special Issue. Review papers are also welcome, but as the Special Issue will include a number of invited reviews, these should be discussed with the Editors at an early stage to avoid duplication. Also, please ask one of the Editors if you are uncertain whether a report of your research would be suitable for inclusion. The Special Issue will be published in January 2015.

All papers should be submitted online at Contributors are urged to submit as early as possible, and should in any case aim to do so before the end of June 2014. Later submissions might be accepted, but the later your submission is received, the higher the likelihood that it may miss the publication deadline. We guarantee, however, that any submission that meets quality standards but is accepted too late for inclusion in the Special Issue will be published as soon as possible thereafter.
