ACTICOAT Post-Op. This new silver-coated antimicrobial barrier dressing is designed to help manage infection risk following cardiothoracic, orthopedic, soft tissue, and other surgical procedures. It offers a trilaminate dressing consisting of a proprietary perforated nanocrystalline silver wound contact layer, an absorbent hydrocellular foam layer, and a transparent, waterproof adhesive top film.

The dressing provides potent bactericidal activity to protect against exogenous and endogenous bacterial infection, including multiple strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, according to the manufacturer. It is also absorbent and can be left in place for up to 7 days, providing continuous antimicrobial activity throughout its entire wear time while potentially reducing costs associated with multiple dressing changes.
