Dr. Anjan Tibrewala is an advanced heart failure cardiologist at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. He received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and his medical degree from Rush Medical College. He did his internal medicine residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis. He completed his general cardiology and advanced heart failure and transplant fellowships at Northwestern University. He also received a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation degree from Northwestern University.

Dr. Tibrewala spends much of his time improving access to care and clinical trials for patients across the healthcare system at Northwestern Medicine, where he serves as the West Region Medical Director of Advanced Heart Failure and West Region Director of Cardiovascular Research. His research interests include improving patient selection and clinical outcomes for patients with a ventricular assist device. He also participates in clinical trials involving pharmacotherapy, novel devices, and health care delivery.


Jonathan D. Rich, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University where he serves as the Program Director for the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship. He specializes in the care of patients with heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, VADs and heart transplants.

Dr. Rich graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana with University Honors. He attended medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York where he was elected to the AOA honor society. He then completed his internal medicine residency training at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Finally, he completed his cardiovascular and advanced heart failure/transplant fellowship training at the University of Chicago where he also served as the Chief Cardiology Fellow.

Dr. Rich has published numerous manuscripts, reviews and book chapters and is regularly invited to lecture at national and international meetings. He has served on the Heart Failure Society of America’s (HFSA) Board of Directors and is currently co-chairing the HFSA’s heart failure national board review course.
