Greetings!

Welcome to the first issue of the year 2023.

A very happy new year!

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank all the members of the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry to have given me the opportunity of being the editor of this prestigious journal. I sincerely thank all the authors, reviewers, editorial board members, office bearers of the Indian association of public health dentistry (IAPHD), all the members, Medknow, and readers for extending their continuous support and cooperation for bringing out the first issue of the year 2023 successfully.

I am absolutely delighted to witness a surge in the number of manuscript submissions encompassing diverse study designs and vast research areas for our journal at the beginning of this year. It is truly gratifying to see such enthusiasm among the authors, and I sincerely hope that it continues throughout the year.

The peer review process is a crucial aspect of scientific publications in any journal. At JIAPHD, we take pride in our editorial team’s efforts to ensure a transparent, high-quality, and timely peer review process. We believe that it is our responsibility to assist the scientific community in all aspects of publishing ethics, including cases of plagiarism, to uphold the integrity of scientific research.

“Plagiarism” refers to the act of wrongly appropriating and publishing someone else’s language, idea, thoughts, or expressions as one’s own. This act of misinterpretation is considered academic dishonesty and a violation of journalistic ethics, as it undermines the integrity of research and creative works.

Plagiarism can take many forms, including copying text word-for-word from a source without citation, paraphrasing someone else’s work without acknowledging the original source, or using images or data without permission. The consequences of plagiarism can vary from penalties, suspension, expulsion, loss of credibility, and damage to reputation.

JIAPHD does not encourage any form of plagiarism and duplicate submissions. Hence, we strongly recommend our authors to check the content of their manuscript thoroughly before submitting it to the journal for the publication. I request our authors to use “plagiarism checking software” to check the plagiarism before submission as a preliminary step, although they are not completely reliable.
